Les capitaines de Mystik 2012

Mystik comes back stronger from White Mountain Open.
Mystik played their first tournament in 2011 at the White Mountain Open on June 21st and 22nd. It was a great tournament and a very nice first experience for the girls of the team, who are mostly new to competitive ultimate.
Throughout the weekend, the discipline and intensity of each of the girls allowed everyone to improve a great deal. In fact, some of the opposing teams found it hard to believe how good the girls were! At the very least, both teams from Quebec City, Qarma and QUB, were caught off guard by the great play of Mystik.
Although the team suffered 4 losses in the first day of play, the last of those was an intense game against Qarma which ended in universe point (10 - 9) after 90 minutes of hard work!!!
The second day started against QUB and only 5 minutes into the game, Mystik was leading 2 – 0. WoW, what a feeling!! QUB then ran away with the game (12 - 2), working it up and scoring long points against Mystik's defense.
if the objectives of the weekend were to instill chemistry and to create cohesion among the members of the team, we can definitely be proud because these goals were surpassed! According to several players of other Montreal women's teams (Storm and Vintage), the summer of 2011 looks promising for the girls of Mystik.

It’s official, Mystik is back in 2011 with a brand new group of leaders!
Mystik is a competitive women’s team founded in 2009. Its mission is quite simple: to develop the individual skills of its players in order to better perform as a team! We are looking to create an ideal development and improvement frame to start your competitive player career or bring it further!
We are therefore looking for women with OR WITHOUT competitive experience, who are determined in learning, to join our troups for 2011.
The trials will take place simultaneously with those of STORM, on April 2 and 3, from 10h am to 1h pm at Collège St-Vianney’s fields (to see direction to the field, click here). We ask that you arrive 15 minutes in advance to be ready to get things going at 10h sharp! Bring a white and a black t-shirt with you, water, your cleats and a lunch. Also note that all players will be asked to pay $15/day to help cover the rental fees. To register, fill out the following Registration Form before March 28.
If you can’t make it to the tryouts, but still would like to be considered for this year’s team, please let us know asap. If you have any questions or comments, don’t hesitate to contact us: mystikultimate@gmail.com
Ultimately yours,
Christiane, Mystik Captain 2011

MONTREAL JAZZ TOURNAMENT 2010
What an amazing weekend for the women’s competitive team Mystik at the Jazz Tournament! They proudly represented Montreal, ending up with a 4th place ranking, their best ranking since the creation of the team in 2009.
The girls were now used to playing against strong winds and they showed it by winning three games on Saturday, against Salty (NS), Frank (Ont) and ChiQs (Qc). Their only defeat was a very tied 10-12 game against PPF (Ont), who ended up in the finals the next day. So, it is with a lot of confidence that Mystik started the second day of the tournament, easily beating Feisty (Ont) and finishing 2nd of their pool.
Things got tougher in the semi-finals when they played Vintage (Mtl), a team with a lot of experienced players, many former Storm players! The girls from Mystik didn’t leave without a fight and finally lost 11-15 in a remarkable game. Finally, even if they played very well against EXO (Sherbrooke), using the last of their energy reserves, they lost 9-15, taking away 4th position.
Congratulations Mystchiks! Keep on making us proud and surpassing yourselves the way you’ve done so far!!
REGIONALS 2010
Exceptionally, it was on june 19, in Québec City, that the 2010 Regional Championships for the women’s teams took place. Five teams were present but only three spots were available to reach the Canadian Championships next August. As expected, Storm (Montreal) and QUB (Quebec) ended in 1st and 2nd positions. Only the team earning the third spot was still to be determined between Mystik (Montreal), EXO (Sherbrooke), and ChiQ’s (Quebec).
The Mystik ladies were ready for the tournament, even though the weather was rather windy. After a good fight against QUB (4-13) and a victory after a great comeback against ChiQ’s (13-11), was the decisive game against EXO. The game was tied from beginning to end, the wind causing both teams to drop many discs. Even the downwind points were long and difficult to complete! Finally, a comeback and an energy boost at the end were not sufficient for Mystik to win the game, hence leaving EXO leave with a 7-9 victory. Nonetheless, the girls from Mystik showed that they had lots of character and that they were not quitters by ending with a great game against Storm, and even doing some surprising defensive plays! You can expect the girls to go win back their spot at Nationals next year!
WHITE MOUNTAIN OPEN 2010
We travelled kilometers to get to the White Mountain Open to do miles on our abdomen on defense. It was the first tourney for Mystik 2010 and it shows promises for the new team composition. It was hot and sunny all weekend long, so we had to be careful about dehydration and sun burns.
Two victories were added to our scoreboard at the tournament, against Darmouth and Hatch 10. Also many team victories were accomplished, especially against Qub from Quebec city. Although we lost against them, we lead by 2 for a while causing them to take two time out in the first half in order to reorganize their game.
- Hatch WMO : Loss 4-13 First game of the tournament, we had to work on a few details.
- Dartmouth (local team) : Win 13-7
- MissConduct : Loss 5-13
- Storm : Loss 5-13
- QUB : Loss 6-13
- Shack is back : loss 7-13
- Hatch 10 : Win 13-10
Mystik ranked 7th at the tournament which is a clear improvement from last year when no games were won. We’re happy to have given some competition to the teams that will attend the Worlds. Don’t forget, we’re just getting started!
