Gala

 

On Saturday, October 22, the 4th Annual AUM Gala took place. The goals of the gala are to recognize our volunteers, the presentation of many awards, including our Hall of Fame inductions and the Mila Oh Spirit Award, and, let's not forget, it's a great opportunity to party! As it happens, the AUM was also celebrating 18 years during the evening that did not disappoint; the 2011 edition was a great success, with nearly 300 people donning their best outfits for the event!

 

The evening started with a reception and appetizers to thank our 200 yearly volunteers, without whom the AUM would not be what it is today. The volunteers were spoiled: many gifts were given (SAQ gift cards, gift certificates for L'Assommoir, Adidas, Strom et O'Sole Mio as well as clothing from VC Ultimate, Five Ultimate and Breakmark). The wine and the conversation flowed freely, kicking off the 2011 Gala in style!

 

At 9 pm, the presentations and awards portion of the Gala began. The highlights of the night were without question:

  • The induction of two extraordinary women, Shiellah Quintos and Lindsay Bales, into the AUM Hall of Fame;
  • The awarding of the Volunteer of the Year to Guylaine and her men (Guylaine Girard, Patrick Frenette, Gustavo Castaño, Etienne Mathieu, Bastien Velsh et Cédric Aubut-Boucher) for their significant involvement in the development of junior and competitive ultimate within the AUM;
  • Finally, the race for the Mila Oh Spirit Prize, which saw Real Villeray Ultimate Club take home the honours for a second consecutive year. Honourable mention goes to the Flying Kangaroos who, in their first year found themselves finalists for the Mila Oh Spirit Prize and who gave us quite a show! Mention also goes to Chill'in, whose fine captain Alexandre Benoit put aside his shyness to entertain the crowd!

 

 

Thanks to the lively music from DJ Shadow and the excellent photo shoot with Sébastien Crête, the evening finished in the wee hours of the morning, in a state that no one would consider sober... Everyone had an amazing time, and it is with immense honour that we would like to thank our organizing committee: Raynald Nemours, Sonia Scalise, Catherine Mudie, Shiellah Quintos, Alexandra Abboud et Karine Lacerte!

This year, the event is moving to the heart of downtown Montreal at the reception hall, La Plaza. The arrival of our participants is planned for between 8:30 and 9 pm. We have improved the format of the evening in order to put the emphasis on the induction of new members to the Hall of Fame and the presentation of the famous Mila Oh Spirit Award. After the celebration, the festive evening will then start. The entry is free for everyone. Come and celebrate with us!

Annual AUM Gala

Dear Ultimate community of Montreal,

You are cordially invited to the third annual AUM Gala, which will take place Saturday, October 23!

This year, we have improved the format of the evening in order to satisfy your desire for glamour and festivity! The arrival of our participants is planned for between 8:30 and 9 pm at Lobby Bar in order to attend to the business of the Gala: the naming of new members of the Hall of Fame, awarding of prizes for the champions for summer 2010 and the presentation of the famous Mila Oh Spirit Award.

 The party will then move to Latulippe beginning at 11 pm.  The entry at Lobby Bar is FREE.

 Get out your chic and sexy party wear!

We would like to take a moment of your time to thank you again for your participation in this 2nd edition of the AUM GALA. Without your presence this evening would certainly not have been as fastastic as it was. You have contributed to the success of this memorable event and we really hope to see you next year!

Once again we would like to congratulate all the winners of the evening, including:

  • The Spirit of the Game: Les Bêtes Noires
  • And Volunteer of the Year: Sonia Krajicek.

You are cordially invited to the second annual AUM Gala which will take place Saturday, October 17th at the Bain Mathieu. This second edition will surely dazzle you once again!

  

As of 7:00 PM the doors will open to you. The evening will start at around 7:30 PM with the presentation of various awards for Spirit and Performance, without forgetting this year’s inductees of the Hall of Fame! This fabulous evening will go on until 3:00AM where you will be able to party to the sounds of the group OMEGADOM (members include two members of the AUM) and guest DJs!

 

This event was also organized to salute the contribution of all the volunteers in the several committees because, without them, the AUM wouldn’t be celebrating its 16th year of existence. All the 2 400 members and their spouses are invited. Several prizes to be won !

 

Please confirm your presence by October 9th at: social@montrealultimate.ca. The price is $12 per person or 10 tickets for $100. The tickets will be given to you by a committee member on the various fall league fields (Longueil, Lachine, Concordia), and through organized meeting points on the island of Montreal to accommodate all the members. Formal attire is required. Also, a light buffet will be served throughout the evening. We would absolutely love to see you there!
