End of Season Tournament

2011 Edition: word from the TD

The AUM's End of Season tournament took place over two very different days, on August 27 and 28. The charming fields of the Douglas Hospital welcomed no fewer than 28 teams on Saturday, under a resplendent sun and on a beautiful warm day. The next day, Montreal caught the end of Hurricane Irene. On Sunday, thirty teams faced touch competition despite the unpleasant conditions and the unfriendly temperatures. Ironically, we could say that the theme of natural disasters was taken a little too literally! Nonetheless, despite the unenviable conditions (strong winds and heavy rain), we saw the resiliency that is so typical of ultimate players. But eventually, enough was enough. The fields were soaked and the strong winds made continuing impractical, and we were forced to call it a day at 12:20 pm.

Whether it was the sunny Saturday or the rain-soaked Sunday, the friendly atmosphere and spirit of the game were at their highest point. As per usual, the AUM put everything in place to offer the usual Montreal tournament buffet spread: bagels, a variety of fruit, a BBQ serving hotdogs, burgers and veggie burgers, corn on the cob, pasta salad, etc. A magnificent tournament, great players, spirited and intense play, what more could we ask for?

We look forward to seeing you on the field again soon!

Saturday's winners:

  • Typhoon Division (A): Disc Pistols
  • Hurricane Division (B): Squeezy Lemon
  • Tornado Division (C): Team Youhoo
  • Tsunami Division (D): Kiwis
  • Earthquake Division (E): Discobama
  • Spirit: Les Charlies

Sunday's winners: There were no winners for Sunday, given that the tournament was called at 12:20 pm due to weather conditions.

GOOD NEWS: the Cushe Footwearcompany is providing 10 gift certificates, valid for one free pair of Cushe shoes! These certificates will be presented to the winning team in each division, on both Saturday and Sunday! We suggest that the certificate then be given to the most spirited player on your team. More information will be available on site this weekend.

The tournament is currently full, but many teams are still looking for players to fill out their roster. If you are interested in playing either Saturday or Sunday, please send an email to Philippe who will put you in touch with a team that will be happy to welcome you for the day!!
