North American Grand Masters Championship
7th Annual North American Grand Masters Championship, September 24 - 25, 2011, Montreal, Canada
Registration is now open for the 7th North American Grand Masters Championship. The tournament is open to all guys at least 40 years old by December 31, 2011 and women at least 35 years old by the same date. The tournament will take place on the beautiful grounds of the Douglas Hospital next to the St-Laurence River on the Island of Montreal.
Three or four games will be played on Saturday and two or three on Sunday with a planned finish time of 2 pm.
Last year’s tournament had a very high and fairly even and strong level of play with teams coming from different places in the US and Canada. Since then, we have had interest from many new places across North America.
Tournament winners will have their team name and team members’ names permanently inscribed on a huge and classic Cup trophy. This is your chance to get your name on the Cup! So far there have been three Canadian and three American Championship team winners.
Last year’s winners were Get Off My Lawn from Ottawa.
We continue to have some of the best food ever served at a UIltimate tournament and will be bringing back the chefs from the last two years. Why not eat well while you play? We figure that if you eat better than you ever have, you may play better than you ever have!
The tournament fee is $350 Canadian or US. There will be a special discounted price of $300 Canadian or US for those that pay on or before August 25, 2011. There are no other fees and neither UPA nor CUPA membership is required for this tournament.
The cheque should be made payable to Michael Lee and sent to:
1117 Sainte-Catherine Street West, Suite 912, Montreal, Quebec, H3B 1H9
Please also send the following information: team name and city; team contact name (plus email, telephone number, and full address) and number of players on your team.
Profits from the tournament will be sent to a registered charity selected by the winning team.
Several pickup players from a number of distant locations have asked if they can pick up with a team. The answer is definitively yes.
We would suggest the following: 1) use the Google groups email@example.com to find a team, 2) contact the captains directly a few weeks prior to the tournament when an email with their names and email contacts goes out, or 3) get to the fields early the day of the tournament. Typically there are teams looking for players come game day.

Early registration is much appreciated by the organizers. Over the last six years of this tournament, no team has been able to win the tournament twice. The competition will surely be stronger this year and new teams are looking to win this tournament, so start planning if you want your name to be on the Cup.
Remember you need your passport to cross the border.
Looking forward to seeing those discs fly,
The Tournament organizers
